ng Kong Volunteer Defence Corps. An advance on account of pension was paid to a relative of a former Chinese member of the Corps, who was reported to have been killed in action. It subsequently transpired that the man deserted prior to the Capitulation of the Colony. No pension was granted.
Stores Department. Overpayment of wages to a temporary storeman who absconded.
Medical Department. An irrecoverable overpayment in respect of Rehabilitation Allowance,
mports and Exports Department. Due to a misunderstanding double payments were made to an ex-Government official who had also served in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps. The officer concerned was a Canadian citizen and the Canadian Government did not feel justified in pressing a claim for a refund.
