I am afraid that in some respects, these extracts may be a little inadequate; item 4 I have had to cut about from its original form for obvious reasons. I would also be grateful if you would comment in your reply, on the subject of known American policy regarding our interests in this part of the world. You will remember that the published correspondence of General Stillwell and President Roosevelt imply that the latter would have adumbrated a policy of not encouraging British colonial interests in the East.
In our conversation today, and with reference to item 3 above, you told me.today that your previous statements in the House ought to have stilled the disquiet mentioned by my brother. Would you be kind enough to let me have the references to these statements in your reply, together with the amplifications called for in relation to the 5 extracts given above.?
