According to Conclusion 6 (b) recorded in the minutes of the meeting held on 21st October, 1947, at the Board of Trade to discuss the proposed commercial treaty with China your Department prepare a revise of the United Kingdon draft for presentation to the Chinese, but we understand that there is felt to be no urgency about this.

The object of this letter is to remind you that we have had correspondence with you on the subject of certain points of special importance to hong kong, the Pederstion of Malaya and Singapore in this letter. See, for example, letter No.15314/64/47 ✈ of 2nd April, 1947, from Morris to Summerscale and the

letter (same number) of 24th October, 1947, from Morris to Miss Jack and her reply thereto dat ä 5th November. Unfortunately, we are not yet in a position to make specific drafting suggestions, but we will let you have them in due course. In the meantime, we suggest that your new draft should not receive general circulstion until you have our suggestions.
