WHEREAS, by letter dated 21st August, 1946. (Secretariat 3401/45C)

under the hand of the Hon. the Colonial Secretary, His Excellency the

Governor appointed a Board of Arbitration to adjudicate on the matters in

dispute between the managements and the employees of the Star Ferry Company

and the Hong Kong and Yaumati Ferry Company.

NOW WE, the said Board, having heard all parties to the dispute and

having duly considered their statements to us, do hereby make this our

award of and concerning the matters so referred to us as aforesaid in

manner following, that is to say:

1. Working Hours:

Overtime:

A seven day week and an eight hour day calculated from

the time a ferry goes into service to the time she goes off.

Overtime will be paid, as from a full eight hours at time

and a half, i.e. 50% over the ordinary hourly basic pay

plus Ferry Passenger Carrying Allowance where payable,

if workmen are called upon to work in excess of a nine

hour day.

Time under half an hour to count as half an

hour. Time over half an hour and under one hour to be

reckoned as one hour,
