The Catholic Schools Guild is of opinion:

That our serious objections to the original 1940 Code have been dispelled because of the amendments.

That the Code with the amendments provides for a wider curriculum and more adequate modern facilities than were common to the majority of Catholic Grant Schools in the past.

That the financial provision under Article 37 is reasonably adequate to meet the normal expenses, not directly met by Government Grant, of our Schools.

That if due allowance is made for initial difficulties and abnormal needs, the code should work smoothly.

That the position of Heads is a responsible one and that the extra allowance given should be in proportion to the responsibility, the present provision does not seem to be adequate.

That the Council is very much opposed to a repeal of the Code and its amendments, and deprecates the suggested initiation of a new Code.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your obedient servant,

(SGD.) SISTER ANN MARY

Sec. Catholic Grant Schools Councils.
