Both Cox and I have been having separate interviews with R. O. Hall Bishop of Hong Kong. In my talk with him the Bishop and I felt very strongly that he should be at the Committee when this matter is discussed again. 1 rang up Cox about this and he is not quite happy about it as matters have taken rather a different turn from the ordinary, the Bishop having appealed to the Governor and the matter being a departmental one. Cox suggested that if Rowell isn't going back soon, probably the best thing would be for the Bishop, Rowell, Cox, yourself, myself and one or two others to meet together before the matter is discussed in Committee. I gave Cox R. O. Hall's dates as 20th to 29th September inclusive, but 1 shall not be back from Sweden until September 21st so it would have to be 22nd to 29th inclusive, or October 4th morning or 14th October afternoon. Cox said he would get in touch with you about dates, but I thought I would also let you know the result of our 'phone conversations. Could you let me know as soon as possible if any date is fixed and I will get in touch with Bishop Hall?
Yours very sincerely,
L. McD. Robison Esq. Colonial Office
