School clerks shall be on a salary scale equivalent
to 4/5 of that of an Anglo-Chinese teacher.
School secretaries may be paid at the full rates for
Anglo-Chinese teachers.
Coolies and amahs shall be paid at Government rates and
the number allowed shall be as for similar Government schools.
After periods of not less than four years resident service, European
teachers shall be eligible for eight months full pay leave including the
period of travel, at the discretion of the Managers. Such leave may not be
spent in the Colony except on special grounds approved by the Director and
subject to the following conditions:-
(i)
A medical certificate shall be furnished that the teacher's
health will not be adversely affected;

(ii) The duration of leave shall not exceed eight months less
the normal period of travel.
Non-European teachers shall be eligible for leave on the same
conditions as teachers with similar qualifications in Government service, at
the discretion of the school managers.
PASSAGES.
23.
The expenditure may include provision for the cost of second class
passages for European teachers on first appointment, on taking approved leave
and on retirement. Similar passages may also be approved for the wife and
family of a European teacher in accordance with the regulations for the time
being in force with respect to similar teachers in Government service.
RENT.
24.
(i) In respect of premises not owned by the school authorities
the expenditure may include the rent and rates actually paid subject
to the approval of the Director of Education after consultation with
the Government Assessor.
