(b) Sister Henri is shown in the statement as
drawing a salary of £606, but her name does not
appear in the list included in Sir Mark Young's
savingram No. 120 of the 14th March 1947
(c) Dr. C. Woo is shown in your detailedlist
as drawing £444 and in the gederal statement as drawing
£440. This is a very small point, but I thought it
just worth while mentioning to you since I was writing
to you in connection with the others.
(d) Miss Margaret Brunt Mansfied is mentioned in,
your detailed list as being eligible for an overseas
allowance, but her name does not appear in the general
statement.
(e) The maximum salary of several European Graduate
Mistresses is given as £468 which is four increments above
the, maximum in the Burnham scale. The most that is allowed
by para. 4(b) is three increments.
(f) The total increase shown in the statement enclosed
in your letter is £713 per annum. As however some officers
are not on their maximum salaries, we presume that the
!
total additional cost is potentially rather larger. Gues
+
in feras los us should be fed to know what the maximum increase would be.
I should be glad to have the answers to the above points
at your convenience, but the one that we are particularly
interested in is that to (F). The basis on which we put the
matter to the Treasury is that the maximum cost of the scheme
would not be more than £1050 per annum; and if this estimate
proves to be on the low side we ought certainly to let the
Treasury have revised figures as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
