On 30th January 1947, Roberts wrote to you asking for informa- tion on the question of special temporary allowances which have been introduced by the Hong Kong Government for its lower paid clerical grades. I am unable to trace a reply to his letter and in view of the urgency which now exists for a settlement of this matter for our clerks I would be grateful if you could let me have any information you possess about this allowance as soon as possible.
