SECRETARIAT ADMINISTRATIVE CIRCULAR NO. 37.

Furniture and other equipment to be

supplied to Government Quarters.

34

The furniture listed in appendix A to this Circular constitutes a standard maximum scale of furnishing to be supplied to all Government quarters occupied by those officers who are entitled to Government furniture by virtue of General Orders 121, 121A and 121B. Articles will be supplied as requisite to suit the size and number of rooms in any particular quarter. This list replaces the three lists contained in General Orders 121, 121A and 121B which are here by amended.

20

Furniture on the scale now approved will be supplied in the first instance to new blocks of Government flats, new houses and rehabilitated houses the construction or rehabilitation of which is completed after 1st August, 1948. Furniture in other quarters will be brought up to the scale now proposed as and when supplies permit.

3. To save expense and time in the making chairs and tables will have straight instead of curved legs.

4. All furniture will have a light limed and waxed teak

finish.

5. The items of equipment set out in appendix B will be supplied by the Public Works Department, where appropriate, as standard fixtures in new blocks of Government flats, now houses and rehabilitated houses the construction or rehabilitation of which is completed after the 1st August, 1948.

6. The Director of Public Works will endeavour to supply individual items from the list of standard equipment at appendix B to quarters other than those mentioned in paragraph 5 above where necessary and if the equipment is available. It is not expected that the supply position will enable this to be done for some considerable time in any but the most exceptional circumstances.

7. Portable fans and heaters will not be supplied by Government, nor will sun blinds other than the fixed Venetian blinds referred to at paragraph (10) of Appendix B.
