of Government's Housing Policy, forwarded under
cover of a despatch dated 18th August, 1946; the
paragraph reads:- "The Government agrees generally
with the Committee's (1.e. the Building Reconstruction
Advisory Committee, 1946) view that, so long as the
housing shortage remains acute, rent restrictive
legislation should not be removed, but it will
continue to examine from time to time both the
necessity for its retention and the question of making
any alterations in its provisions. A Committee is now
being set up for the purpose of examining this latter
question."
