Every officer whose salary is less than $420 per annum, and for whem no married quarters are allotted, may draw a rent allowance unless he is employed aboard a Government vessel. The following fixed rent allowances are prescribed:

110. RESIDENCE QUALIFICATIONS FOR RENT ALLOWANCE.
(1) The absence of an officer from this Colony for not more than
12 days at a time, shall not disqualify him for or affect his rent allowance fer that period, but leave spent in this Colony shall not count as residence unless it is short leave not exceeding 42 days or sick leave: this period may only be extended in special cases by direction of the Governor on grounds of hardship.

officer will not be eligible for the rent allowance laid down for officers with dependants unless his dependants resid. with him in the Colony for a period of at least one year in each normal tour of duty.
An officer without dependants who shares premises with one or more other officers may draw the rent allowance appropriat♦ tọ an officer with depondants; in which case no rent allowance shall be payable to the officer or officers with whom the premises are shared.
