Your staff despatch No.204 of 13th October, 1947, appointment of Miss G.K. Burne as Supervisor and Training Officer for Health Visitors and Welfare Nurses and your telegram No.1479 of 13th September, 1947, appointment of Miss E.E. Wilson as Health Visitor.
No scale was recommended by Salaries Commission for Health Visitor as this is a new post. Soale offered to Miss Tilson is similar to old scale for Senior Nursing Sister and I consider this is the correct grading. Salaries Commission new scale for the Supervisor and Training Officer is the new scale for Senior Nursing 3ister. The Supervisor's post is senior, to that of the Health Visitor, but in effect both are on the same new scales. The Supervisor and Training Officer was formerly on the same scale as Principal Almon or but this grading is too high on the now acales. I recommend that the Supervisor and Training Officer should be on the new scale for Tutor Sister, namely $700 p.m. for two years then by $40 p.m. to $860. Please see my telegram No.75 of 20th January, 1948. This is a proper grading for the post generally and particularly in relation to Health Visitors on the Senior Sister scale, namely $640 p.m. for two years then by $40 p.m. to 800 p.m.
I consider that Miss Wilson should enter the new scale at the first $640 and Miss Burne as the first $700 unless you consider that their qualifications and experience make them eligible for a higher entry point. They wore both offered £380 p.a. on appointment in England before the new scales wore introduced, but it appears that Miss Burne should be on a higher salary than Miss Vilson.
Grateful for early reply.
