We discussed this with Mr. Mayle and it was agreed that, subject to the views of C. S. D. (B) we could agree to what is in fact a proposal by . the Governor to modify the salary scales recommended by the Salary Commission for radiographers.

I think it is desirable to send a savingram to Hong Kong as in draft, to make it clear that this definite modification of a scale recommended by the Salaries Commission is indeed definite.

On 54197/8/48 Radiographers the Governor of Hong Kong said (at 1) that the Salaries Commission basic scale (already approved) was considered to start too high, and be proposed a further revision of the scales for both Male and Female Radiographers. These new scales went up to the same maxima as the Salaries Commission scales, but started lower. In (2) on that file we accepted the modified scales.
(5) on the present file shows that the Governor proposes to modify the Salaries Commission scale for Physiotherapists (which is the same scale as that for Female Radiographers) in the same way. (He has missed the bus as regards Miss Bonbernard who has just accepted the Salaries Commission scale.)
I think we must get the situation clarified. Senior Nursing Sisters, X-Ray Sisters and the Superintendent and Training Oficer for Health Visitors are all on the same Salaries Commission scale as Female Radiographers and Physiotherapists and I think we must find out whether Hong Kong wants to modify the scale in respect of them also.
