Kong telegram No. 34 of the 9th January

1940 a copy of which has been sent to

you? I attach another copy for

convenience.

2. I have not been able to find

either in Hong Kong General Orders

or in the Hong Kong Pensions Ordinance

(No. 21 of 1932) any reference to

exchange rates for pensions.

no doubt because pensions on s terling

salaries are paid in sterling and

pensions on dollar salaries are paid

in dollars, so the question has not

arisen before.

3. We are now concerned with two

classes of officer:-

(a)

Officers at present on sterling

salaries who, in opting to

accept Salaries Comic: ion

terms, thereby opt to change

over to doller salaries.

(b) Future recruits who will all be

on soller salaries.
