Hong Kong Salaries Commission.
My immediately preceding telegram.
Following is text of proposed announcement,
begins:
"The report of the Hong Kong Salaries
Commission, which will be published shortly,
has been considered by the Secretary of State
in the light of the recommendations made by
this Government. The Secretary of State has now
indicated that the main recommendations of the
Report relating to salaries and allowances are
acceptable. Furt

being given to the rates of high cost of living
allowance and to certain points in connection
with the time-scales and expatriation pay. In
these some adjustments will be necessary.
Final approval is expected by (date to be
