rank. There is, however, no justification for a

higher maximum and it would be contrary to existing

practice. The fact that Prisons Officers have not

the same promotion prospects as Police Officers is

no good reason for granting the former a better

scale. The respective establishments and salaries

of Police and Prisons Officers are as follows:·

It is considered that the Prisons scale should be

adjusted to maintain this difference and it is

suggested that the maximum of the prisons scale

should be reduced from $1680 to $1540 per mensem

(1510 per annum to £1355 per annum)

(6) Sister Tutors.

It is considered that the allowance of $60 per

mensen which the Commission recommends should be paid

to Nursing Staff who are qualified teachers and are

engaged on tutorial duties should be pensionable

and should be merged into their salary scale. This

follows the practice in West Africa and Dast Africa.
