Expatriation Pay.
I much appreciate efforts made by
you and Malayan Governors to attain
uniformity quickly in this matter.
I note that you are prepared to agree
to the revised rates suggested in Governor-
General's telegram No.0.G.2 of 3pd January subject to reservation of the right to
make farther representations on two points,
namely:-
(a) } rate of expatriation pay on

salaries between £1200 and 1400, and
rate of expatriation pay for women
on salaries over £700.
I agree that you should announce
revised rates as you propose. It is of
-course understood that no mention of above
reservations should ba made in your
announcement.
