I presume that date to be taken as date

recommendations" for the purposes of the first
sentence of para. 194 of the Report will in fact
be the date of the announcement in Hong Kong of
my approval to the main recommendations of the
Report relating to salaries and allowances
conveyed in my telegrams No. 1976 and 1977 of the
30th December 1947. Please confirm this and
inform me of the exact date.
