If however you still consigur it desirable to follow the Salaries vaission recommentation in this matter I shall de prepured to agree provided you consider that representations such as those referred to in arsgraphs 3 and 4 above can be satisfactorily answered. I consider howover that any ďîficer on leave on let January, 1947 pending transfer should in any case be given the benefit of the revised terms.

I presume that date to be taken as date of quouncement of "final approvel of the recomendations" for the purposes of the first sentence of para. 194 of the Auport will in fact be the date of the announcement in Hong Kong of my approval to the main recommendations of the Report relating to salaries and allowances conveyed in my telegrams No. 1976 and 1977 of the 30th December 17. Please confirm this and inform me of the exact date.
