1. I send herewith copy of Hong Kong Savingram No. 50 of 21st January 1948 and of its enclosure. Also copy of a minute by Mr. King on them.

2. Further copies of the Hong Kong Estabs. circular letter have been asked for by telegram to be sent air mail.

3. We recently asked Hong Kong to send us copies of summarised statements of the revised salaries and allowances approved whid they are preparing. Hong Kong has replied in telegram No.158 of 7th February (of which I have asked Tel. Section to send you a copy) that these are not yet ready.

4. As regards Mr. King's minute herewith I would suggest that his comments

regarding the point at which new entrants should enter the new scales should be

referred to Hong Kong. I think this could best be done by C.S.D.

5. The point about age of retirement mentioned at the end of Mr. King's minute has been previously mentioned to you, I think, by Mr. Radford.

6. I am sending over to you a copy each of the Saleries Commission Report and of its Appendices. I thought you already had these, but am told you have not. sorry they have not been sent before.
