(Reyted)

It is my duty and honor to lay before Your Honor my humble petition on a subject against the excessive measure of punishments imposed on my son, Chong Tong Nie (Tony Chuang) for a long period of five years' simple imprisonment without giving him a chance of self legal defence whereas it should not exceed 18 months in all if legally passed; and in order to do him justice and adequate treatment with humanity for his immediate release from prison so as to construe the spirits and causes of English Laws in connection with an incidental case of so-called robbery of which he was unfortunately involved, and in view of the fact that he has been imprisoned since February 20, 1946 for more than two full years with all sorts of hardships. The grounds on which his liberation should now be granted are based as follows:-

1.

2.

3.

That he belongs to a highly respectable family; and being a young student bearing an excellent character, it was not his intention of committing any offence whatsoever.

Due to bad companions, he erroneously fell into the trap of someone else. Afterwards he realized the sorrowful incident, and earnestly begged for his early liberation so as to enable him to resume his study in school because of his juvenility.

Since his offence being so technical: because he was arrested in a restaurant at my request; and the rusty pistol found in my home was confiscated as it actually belonged to a Police Reserve named Leong who was fined One Thousand Dollars and was released at once. Therefore, it is clear that it is absolutely unconstitutional to imprison my son with any further period henceforward.
