Gentlemen,
we have to refer to your letter A0J/KJD/48 of 2nd September on the subject of an investigation of the site for a proposed damn in the Colony of Hòng Kong and to inform you that it is suggested that you should undertake the investigation in socordance with the directions of the Goverment of Hong Kong under the following terma and conditions:-
A. That you will provide the services of a Geophysicist for the purpose of undertaking an Electrioni Resistivity survey, for which you will be paid at the rate of £250 ( two hundred and fifty pounds) for the first calendar month during which he is employed in connection with the inwestigation and £26 (twenty dx pounds) for each subsequent week churing which he is so employed any period of less than a week being paid for pro rata.
B.
guh payments to take effect from the date on which the Geophysicist leaves the United Kingdom by direct air route for Hong Kong and to cease on the date of his disembarkation in the United Kingdom after his return journey by direct air route from Hong Kong on completion of the geophysical survey.
That you will provide the services of a skilled artiler who is competent to and will operate to the satisfaction of the Goverment of Hong Kong, drilling plent which will be supplied at the site of the work by that Goverment and that you will be poid for his services at the rate of £200 (two hundred pounds) for the first calendar month during which he is employed in cormeotion with the investigation and £92 (ninety two pounds) for each subsequent calendar month during which he is so employed any period of less than a calendar month being paid for pro rata.
The payments to take effect from the date that the Driller leaves the United Kingdom by direct air route for Hong Kong and to cease on the date of his disembarkation in the United Kingdom after his return journey by direct sir route fra Hong Kong on the completion of the drilling work required by the Goverment of Hong Kong.
0. That the payments for the services of the Geophysicist and
Driller set out above shall be deemed to include the cost of furnished quarters and sustenance whilst they are employed in Hong Kong in connection with the investigation provided that should the cost of such furnished quarters and sustenance vary from the sum of £1.78.0d. (one pound seven shillings) per head per day then the mount of such variation shall be agreed between you end the Goverment of Hong Kong and the payments shall be adjusted accordingly either upwards or downwards as the œse say be.
D.
That you will arrange for the Geophysicist and Driller to travel from the United Kingdom to Hong Kong and to return by air and to be paid reasonable incidental travelling expenses during the periods of transit.
