BROADCASTING.
The Committee agrees to a reduction of $10,000 in the provision for Artists and Announcers. creation of a new sub-head for Training Expenses in the
It recommends the United Kingdom and the provision of $6,990 in order to send a local officer to the United Kingdom for a training course with the B. B. C. There will be a consequential reduction of $3,600 in the provision under Personal Emoluments for this officer while he is absent from the Colony.
These proposals result in a reduction of expenditure under this Head from $352,509 to $345,899.
HEAD 28. PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICE.
The Committee agrees to the inclusion of a Motor Driver and a Coolio previously omitted in error, and the deletion of the provision for casual labour.
It recommends the provision of $4,300 under Special Expenditure to cover the cost of freight for a cinema-van and a consequent increase of $2,500 for the upkeep of vehicles. The Committee notes that the provision of $26,660 for rent of offices is no longer required.
The effect of these changes is to reduce the expenditure on this Head from $160,988 to $141,808. HD 36B. - SOCIAL WELFARE OFFICE.
The Committee notes the promotion of a Cadet Officer Class II to an existing vacancy of Cadet Officer Class I and agrees to the inclusion under Temporary Staff of three Uncertificated Welfare Workers and one Coolie for the screening of squatters.
Expenditure on this Head is in consequence increased from $799,563 to $812,176.
HEAD 37. - STATISTICAL DEPARTMENT.

The Committee recommends an increase in the clerical establishment of one post of Clerk Class II. involves an increased provision for the Head of $131,188 compared with $128,428.
HEAD 39 - SUBVENTIONS.
The Committee recommends the adoption of certain recommendations made by the Social Welfare Advisory Committee on the 3rd March for a revised allocation of Subventions by the Government to various local organisations. These recommendations were received by Government after the printing of the draft estimates. Their nett effect is to reduce expenditure on the Head by $156.
