Under the terms of the War Expenditure Settlement with His Majesty's Government, the latter approved a
grant of one million pounds to assist the Colony in
resolving problems arising out of expenditure connected
with the war. In your telegram No.480 of 23rd April,
1948 it was stated that it would not be possible to make
this grant available before 1949, and provision for it
was accordingly made under Revenue, in the current
estimates which were approved in your telegram No.1135
of 24th August, 1949.

I should be grateful if arrangements could be
made for the sum in question to be credited to the account
of this Government with the Crown Agents for the
Colonies as soon as this is convenient.
