The Committee took note of a printing crror amending the total for this Hoad from $6,031,000 to $6,013,000.
HEAD 22 POLICE FORCE
The Committoo noted certain alterations in the provision for personal emoluments as a result of last minute adjustments in revised salary scales and conversion points, thus increasing expenditure under this Head from $10,393,574 to $10,428,681.

TELEC OMMUNICATIONS
The Committee recommends an increase of $12,000 for overtime allowance in order to implement the revised rates recommended by the Salaries Commission. this Hoad is therefore to be increased from $1,065,393 to

PRISONS DEPARTMENT
The Committee recommends an increase of $2,400 for grants to chaplains in order to provide for the increased grants to the different denominations.
The effect of this recommendation is to increase the expenditure under this Hoad from $3,515,166 to $3,517,566.
HEAD 27 PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
The Committee noted a number of minor adjustments in the provision for personal emoluments consequent on a re-check
based on more accurate information regarding the revised salaries. The rosult is an increase in the expenditure under this Head from 84,151,855 to $4,248,217.
HEAD 29 PUBLIC WORKS EXTRA ORDINARY
Consequent on the approval by the Secretary of State for the Colonies of free grants from the Colonial Development and Welfare Fund for a reclamation at Aberdeen and for landing facilities at Kennedy Town, the Committee recommends that these two items, which had been provisionally included, should remain in the estimates subject to a corresponding increase in the revenue estimates of $560,000.
In addition, the Committee recommends the inclusion of three other urgont items, a wholesale vogetable market in Kowloon at a cost of $400,000, the construction of bathing beach pavilions at a cost of $360,000 and the replacement of a wator conduit at Shing Mun at a cost of $250,000.
The effect of those recommendations is to increase the expenditure under this Head from $9,628,500 to $10,638,500.
