Thank you for your letter of the 24th December.
The draft of my letter to you of the 9th December states that a copy of our despatch No. 302 is attached. This is the despatch about relaxation of Treasury control. It was dated on the same day (24th September, 1948) as No.303, which was about the 1948-49 Hong Kong Estimates.
sone-one apparently decided that both
Hong Kong in their Savingram No. 699 of the 26th October and I were wrong in referring to despatch No. 302. They therefore altered "302" in my letter to you to read "303" and put in a copy of despatch No. "303"
I now enclose (at last) your fur her copy of despatch No. 302, which, as you will readily see, 18 clearly the despatch Hong Kong was referring to in their savingram No. 699. (Their date 25th September was a mistake; it should have been 24th September).
