One Acting Registrar, one temporary Accountant, one temporary Chief Clerk, one Special Class Clerk and one temporary Assistant Bailiff. A new appointment has been made in the post of First Bailiff but the previous holder is still on leave pending retirement. Additional provision has accordingly been made under this item for his salary during the balance of his loave. The vote for additional temporary staff has been increased in order to provide for the subordinate and cleaning staff required for the Third Court. The net increase is $6,726.
Other Charges
Advertising, Newspapers and Periodicals, Office Equipment and Furniture have been provided for departmentally..
Sub-head 4 "Fees to Counsel and Solicitors for Prisoners" has been increased by $3,000 as it was necessary to provide for additional funds this year by Special Warrant.. A saving of $3,500 has been made on Fuel, Light and Power over the combined provisions last year and the sub-head "Books and Publications" has also been reduced by $1,500. Provision has
been made departmentally for the Upkeep of Departmental Motor Vehicles. The net increase under Other Charges is $3,000.
Recurrent expenditure on the whole Head
has risen by $9,726.

Personal Emoluments
The staff has been reduced by the
elimination of one Class II Senior Clerical and Accounting Staff post. Temporary clerks have been appointed to fill the vacancies in the Junior Clerical Service establishment. One post of temporary clerk has been filled by a re-employed pensioner at a higher salary. There is a small increase of $70 in Personal Emoluments.
Other Charges
Incidental Expenses are reduced by $200 and Travelling Expenses by $150 but Newspapers and Periodicals now provided for departmental ly cost an additional $250. An extra $100 is required for Raincoats for messengers. The provision for Lawbooks has been transferred to Special Expenditure. increase is $200.

The total recurrent expenditure shows a reduction of $1,430.
