that it would be wise to endeavour to assess the results of the original scheme before deciding to extend it. There has always been a great demand for skilled workers in China, and it may well happen that those students who are now training in Britain, some of them at the expense of the Colony, will on their return find more lucrative employment in China, an event which it does not seem practicable to prevent by requiring signed undertakings or otherwise. should nevertheless be glad to be kept informed of any
developments.
