These documents will, I hope,

hope, give you the information which you require as regards the terms of the Scheme.

I also enclose copies of the form of application and form of agreement. We gather from the F.B.1. that forms of agreement from the first batch of graduates from Hong Kong cannot be traced and the form enclosed is the one which apprentices of Chinese nationality who came here in 1945 were required to sign. This was a purely war-time

agreement and will not necessarily apply to the future. In any case clause 2 needs amendment. It will, however, no doubt serve your purpose.

In this connexion I have been asked to call your attention to the correspondence under Inland Revenue reference No.T.2015/6/42 regarding the case of Mr.L.G. Dookhil from Trinidad which seems to be on all fours with the apprentices from Hong Kong and thus affords a precedent for exempting the latter from #nited Kingdom Income Tax. We very much hope that it will be possible to treat the matter in this way.

Yours sincerely,

(G.Bryant).
