I am sorry to learn of possible development of widespread strikes, and hope that the conference held` yesterday may have proved successful in averting this.

2. I note what you say about support given by Left Wing Federation of Trade Unions, but should be glad to know whether there has been any evidence that present agitation is being deliberately fomented by Communist authorities in China.
