Strike situation.
Four days non-collection of fares resulted in dismissal of approximately 600 tramway conductors and
one week's noties to other traffic staff. All 0039 withdrawn morning 28th December, Dismissals shock to employees. Company in open letter of 30th December again offered arbitration bat offer voted down at Union meeting. Workers now ploketing and threaten to prevent operation of skeleton service if attempted- Island bus workers going slow have givta ultimatum and may etrike about 4th January: Bainland bus workers have submitted three-poiat demand including special allowance. Other utilities marking time and awaiting result of tramways developments.
