In (96) the question of compensation to married men whose families complied inth the evacuation order of 1940 & who thereby incurred scpenses avoided by officers who disregarded the order to the Gov
was
referred
In (195) the Gor recommends that any person who has received payment from Goot in respect of the period of internment and who can shew that by compliance with evacuation order he was put to
material additional expense in regard to this family, chould be exempted from the 10% deduction the amount paid
to him for the period of internment
It is
for conson whether the Gov's recommendation should be approved,
+
if it is, how it is to be put into effect. So far
the two men who
raised the matter (Calthrop & Cruttwell) are concerned, the HK Gout Act could
inform the Gow of the amount involved - the 10% deduction of payment could
be made i
the Colony
but it
allm
to me that it is going to create a
very big job for
the Accountant
someone
is the only
position) to ascertain for the concession.
(presumably

in the
who is eligible It would presumably
have to be paid to Malayan officers too.
