GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONG KONG,

12th August, 1946.

hy dear kloyd

Thank you for your letter of the 24th July about

the membership of the Legislative Council.

I note that the appointments which were made

provisional in the first instance ought to be made definitive,

and I will make a recommendation on the point in about three

months' tim. Io not think it would be opportune to do so

any earlier, as there is still a possibility that the coming

constitutional changes will make it desirable for the appointments

to be limited in duration to one year, as was do in the case

of appointments to the Executive Council.

Yours sincerely.

kwark Young-

T. I. . Lloyd, Esq., C.M.G.,

Colonial Office.
