(ix) The Committee emphasized the importance of this
Department not only for the training of teachers for the Colony
but because of the very large part it might play in the training of teachere of English in China proper. Sir George Mose drew attention to the high importance attributed by the Chinese Ministry of Education to good teaching of English.

felt that the University Department of Education might become a major centre for the training of such teachers who would come to Hong Kong after completing degree courses in Chinese Universities.
