Dr. Channon and said he thought there was virtual commitment to a University in Malaya, The Committee agreed that such an institution need not effect discussion of a University to serve the needs of Hong Kong and China and that it was undesirable and inappropriate to attempt to achieve a combined University.
The Chairman suggested that at the next meeting the Committee should devote itself to making a "blue-print" for a revived University adequately to represent British standards. Such a blue print would rovide a basis on which to build an argument, convincing to H. 4. G. (including the Treasury), that it would be worth while spending the money necessary to achieve the original aims of the University. It was agreed that for nresent nurposes, the ultimate co-opera- tion of the Chinese should be assumed.
The Secretary was asked to collate the proposals made in papers already circulated for the extension of the University, and Mr. Sloss was asked to make a note on the University Library still extant in Hong Kong.
It was decided that future meetings of the Committee should be held on March 4th, March 11th and March 25th.
