It was explained that in addition to the Minutes a fuller Record had also been circulated as there had been a month's interval since the first meeting, but that only the short form of minutes to which the Committee had agreed were likely to be available in regar: to subsequent meetings. Subject to the substitution of "193% for "1950 in ogragraph 5 of the Record and the omission of the words an extremely" and "but it was distress" from the first sentence of paragranh 77,

The Secretary reported on napers that had been circulated and said that Miss Kargery Perham, the biographer of Lord Lugard had promised to send to the Committee any papers relevant to its deliberations.

dr. Sloss reported that tht Scientific Committee of the Preliminary Commission of UNESCO had furnished copies of the priced inventories of basic Jaborato ry equinment prepared for the use of institutions in devastated areas, At present day rices the total cost of basic equipment for physics, chemistry, botany, Zoology the medical subjects and engineering would probably exceed £120,000. Additional expenditure would be necessary for many articles of special equipment and to make provision for the very large amount of practical work that had been found necessary for The difficulties due to shortage the training of P.D. stuď nts. and competition for existing supplies was discussed and the Committee expressed the opinion that the most likely source of equipment was Janan and thought that the University of Hong Kong ought to share in any reparations in kind which might be available.
