of Part I should be retained in its present form and used as the main
body of the Report and Part II be considerably curtailed and attached as an Appendix. The Committee were unanimous in considering that Mr. Adams' redraft feiroulated as H.Z.U.A.C. No. 38) should be
accepted without alteration.
4. The Committee then proceeded to consider the reduction of
haquments for ho commities & becomendations Part II of the draft Report It was agreed that Sections 1 and 2 should be retained, that Sections 3 and 4 should be summarized,
that the first part of Section 5 should be omitted and the whole of
Sections 6, 7 and 8. Section 9 should be retained but linked with the
passage quoting the Foreign office view in 1939, Sections 10 and 11
should be omitted but Sections 12, 13 and 14 retained. Section 15
might be reduced to a sentence or so but should include the name s
of Professors Roxby and Needham and the whole of the last paragraph
of that section. Section 17 should be abbreviated.

5. On Part III of the draft Report (Proposed Developments in Studying and Teaching) the Committee agreed to defer discussion of
thie Section until Mr. Sloss had had an opportunity to discuss it with
Professor Penson and to make any amendments which she suggested.
Dr. Kauntze referred to the paragraph headed "Preventive Medicine
and Public Health" in this Section and said that the post-graduate
course for a diploma in Public Health should be postponed for the
time being. Sir Herbert Eason agreed with this view and suggested
that further consideration should await the publication of a new
circular at present being considered by the General Medical Council.
It was agreed that this Section should be reheaded "Social Medicine and
Public Health".
6. In regard to Part IV on Finance)Dr
e)Dr. Kauntze suggested that it was
unlikely that the Treasury would agree to a scheme or endowment and
that the Report should put forward alternative estimates.
Mr. N.L. Smith suggested, and the Committee agreed, that this
Section should also show provision for passages and leave.
Mrs. Forster raised the matter of family allowances. It was
recognized that this question was part of the larger issue of
