Extra-mural Teaching.
The amount of useful extra-mural work that the University can do is limited by the relatively small part of the population
educated in English. A Chinese Internment camp experience proved?
hat there was an interested audience of English speaking people who were willing and able to follow series courses of instruction. Something could be done for the larger class of Chinese who have no English but are well-read in their own literature. Courses in Chinese in History, Philosophy and the social sciences would serve a useful end especially at this point in Chinese and local political development. If extra-mural work develops to any great extent additional staff will be required; if it is to become a major object of the University it should have its own administrative and teaching staff.
