It is also a statutory obligation that th re shall be an Honorary Degrees Committee. No Honorary Degree shall be awarded save on its recommendation (Ord. Sec.11). Statute 10 prescribes that the Committee shall consist of the Chancellor (Chairman), the Vice-Chancellor, the Deans of Faculties, and a member of the Council appointed by the Council.
Statute 3(4) prescribes that no new degree shall be established or other distinction of honour or merit adopted without reference to the Senate.
