Administrative Committee for the University of Hong Kong.
I) Purpose.
Notes for Order in Council.
The proposed Order is to give authority to a Committee appointed by the Secretary of State for the following purposes:
(a) to administer the funds of the University at its credit in the H.K. and S. Banking Corporation.
This would cover Administrative and Provident Funds.7
b) to receive or to borrow on behalf of the University such additional funds as may be necessary to meet the just claims of officers and servants of the University for arrears of salary; to pay contributions for their benefit into the University Provident Funds: to buy for the University such books, appliances and apparatus as may be required to enable the University as early as possible to undertake some or all of its activities.
c) to decide the amount of salary or pay to be paid on behalf of the University to its officers and servants for the period January lot. 1942 and September 15th 1945.

The period roughly of the
(d) to make such appointments as may be deemed necessary for the work of reopening or reestablishing the University, such appointments to be limited in duration to the period between the date of the Order and the reconstitution of the University Council.
(e) to arrange for the continuance of such already existing appointments as may be deemed necessary for the reopening or reestablishment of the University: to accept the resignation or to provide for the retirement of such officers and servants as may wish to be relieved of their appointments or who,
