Present
THE KING'S MOST EXCELLENT MAJESTY IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the University of Hong Kong (in this
Order called "the University") is established
and incorporated under the University Ordinance
1911 (in this Order called "the Ordinance")
of the Colony of Hong Kong (in this Order called
"the Colony") and provision is made for the
Government of the University by a Chancellor,
Court, Council and Senate whose powers are
prescribed by the Ordinance and the Statutes set
forth in the Regulations of Hong Kong (1937
Edition) (in this Order called "the Statutes"):
AND WHEREAS circumstances have arisen in the
Colony by reason of which it is expedient that
a Committee should be appointed to exercise
certain of the powers of the Council under the
Ordinance and the Statutes:
NOW, THEREFORE, His Majesty in exercise of
all powers enabling Him in that behalf, is
pleased, by and with the advice of the Privy
Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered,
as follows:-
1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Hong Kong
University (Provisional powers) Order in Council, 1946.
(2) The Interpretation Act, 1889, shall apply
for the interpretation of this Order as it
applies for the interpretation of an Act of
Parliament.
2. (1) There shall be constituted a Committee
to be known as the University of Hong Kong
