The Crown Agents sent us an early reply to
the enquiry as to whether they would be prepared
to make an advance to the University on the same
basis as they make advances to Colonial Governments.
(Miss Ruston tells me she took the letter to show
you on the day you left but omitted to do so).
I enclose a copy.
You will see that, if there are reasons which
make it desirable for the Provident Fund invest-
ments to be retained as long as possible (even
though there may not be actual financial advantage
in keeping them), the Crown Agents are willing to
make the necessary advance as part of the proposed
general arrangement that they should act for the
University in this country. If you decide to take
advantage of the Crown Agent's offer, we shall, of
course, be glad to fallow up the matter with them
and be of any assistance we can.
...Your. sinne.)
