I was interested to have, your letter of
the 31st of January on the subject of the
Iuture of Hong Kong University enclosing
a memoranuům from Professor Brown, Dean oI'
the faculty of Science.
The Iuture or the University is a
matter which we have kept well in the
1 orefront of our considerations about
Hong Kong for the past year or so and tho
Secretary or State has now established an
ad hoc Advisory Commitee to consider the policy which should govern its
resuscitation and advise upon the most
appropriate means of carrying out that
policy. In this connection the conception
of the University as an instrument
a
British policy in Chinyet Avehicle for
the presentation of "the British way of
parent
life", is, of coured a major consideration. The Committee is a representative body
including the President of the General
Medical Council, four members of the
Asquith Commission, Mr. Sloss, Vice- Chancellor of the University and
representatives of the Foreign Office.
