From the figures shown in paragraph 2, it is clear
that more than half the total number of students have been,
and are likely to be of Colonial domicile.* The high
proportion of students from Malaya attending schools in
Hong Kong suggests that the establishment of a University
in Malaya will not draw away all Malayan students from
Hong Kong University. Further reasons for expecting
that although the number of students from Malaya will
decrease, the decrease will not be considerable, are
given by the Vice-Chancellor on Page 2 of his Note.
