We have now obtained a proval of
the proposal, which you remember we
discussed together, that a small informal
Advisory Committee should be established
to undertake responsibility for planning
the resuscitation of Hong Kong University.
As you know our idea is that one of the
first functions of this Committee will be
to decide what full-time staff will be
required to assist them. It is proposec
that this planning staff should be house
at Park Street with the Hong Kong
Planning Unit and they should study the
problems involved and make recommendations
to the Advisory Committee in regard to
such matters as the assembling of Universi
staff at different stages, the collection
of equipment and the priorities to be
given to the re-establishment of the
various faculties.
We would expect that the Committee
itself, with your advice, might make
recommendations as to the disposal of
University funds and that it uld frame
a short term policy, bearing in mind the
