sir,

I am directed by Colonel Oliver Stanley to inform you that an application has been received from a lir, John Wilson of

5 Bonnington Road, Peebles, in connection with the possible appointment at a later date of a Registrar for Hong Kong University.

It is the intention that a small Advisory Committee should be established in the near future to represent the University and to undertake planning and make recommendations in regard to such matters as the assembling of starf, the collection of equipment and the priorities to be given to the re-establislment of the various faculties. It is expected that this Committee will recommend the appointment of a full time paid Jecretary and possibly other staff to assist in this work.

It would be appropriate if the secretary to this Committee were a person suitably qualified to become Registrar of the University when it is ro-established.

It is understood that Mr. John Wilson was a member of the teaching staff of Edinburgh University from 1925 an 1936 and Colonel Stanley

THE VICE-CHANCELLOR,

EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY.
