December, 1945.
Mr. Gent has asked me to write to you in connection with your letter to him of the 3rd Decenber about the number and frequency of the meetings of the Hong Kong University Advisory Committee.
It is very difficult to say how many meetings will be necessary and I think that the question of procedure is one which must be considered at the first meeting of the Committee. It is hoped to arrange for this first meeting to take place on a day in the week beginning January 7th probably January 9ti I hope that this will suit you and I will let you know by telegram as soon as a definite time and date is arranged.
It is now expected that there will be 15 members of the Committee (including the Chairman and Secretary) and it may, be, therefore, that it will be found impracticable to arrange for a full meeting on each occasion and that the committee will recommand that sub-committees be formed to make detailed proposals and thus obviating the necessity for the full Committee to meet at more than say monthly intervals.
We fully appreciate the difficulty of your having to come from Devonshire and the further
SIR G. MO88, K.B.I.
