FROM THE PRESIDENT.

THE LODGE,

QUEENS' COLLEGE,

CAMBRIDGE.

2nd January 1946

Dear Mr Creech Jones,

In reply to your invitation of December 31st may I say that I shall be most happy to be a member of the Advisory Committee upon Hong Kong University ? I have most pleasant memories of a visit I paid to Hong Kong several years ago when I saw much of the University and got to know its then Vice-Chancellor and other members of the Staff. I have recently heard from some of them of the destruction it has suffered and of their own personal ex- periences under the Japanese.

On all grounds therefore I shall value the opportunity of helping the Committee charged with investigating the future of what was up till recently an important and flourishing Academic institution.

Yours sincerely,

A.Creech Jones, Esq., M.P.,

Colonial Office,

Downing Street,

London, S.W.1.
