Mr. Sloss called on me on the 20th November in connection with the proposed functions of the Finance Committee. I have minuted on this on 54147/3. At the same time he asked if he might see the proposed terms of reference for the Advisory Committee. I showed him Z in my minute or the 26th October. Mr. loss said that he entirely agreed with these proposed terms and asked if they might be includeû in the letters of invitation to the suggested members of the Committee. I discussed this with Mr. Paskin who felt that ir the drart were resubmitted it would cause too long a delay before the letters of invitation could be despatched. He thought it would be better for the terms of reference to be precisely stated by the Chairman at the first meeting of the Committee. Perhaps therefore lir. Cox and Mr. Gent Would say whether they agree with the formula suggested at above.
Meanwhile I attach:
three letters for Mr. Cox's signature, (to Mr. Adams, Professor Penson and to Mr. Burrey) one draft letter for Dr. Rae's signature to the Registrar or the G.M.C.,
if he agrees with the drait perhaps you would very kindly detach from the rile and have copied separately in order to avoid delay,
two letters for lür. Gent's signature.
